Vi's Saskatoon Cake

Vi's Saskatoon Cake
 
 
 
1 cup white sugar
1 cup hard margarine
2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 egg, lightly beaten
4 cups Saskatoons
1/4 cup white sugar
 
1. Mix first four ingredients till crumbly, save 1 cup crumbs for the top.
2. Mix egg into rest of crumbs
3. Pat gently into 9x13 pan.
4. Cover with the berries.
5. Sprinkle with the 1/4 cup of sugar, then the crumbs.
6. Bake at 350 for approx. 30 mins, or till edges are slightly browned.
 
If using frozen berries, turn the broiler on for a few minutes,
just to lightly brown the top after cake is done.
